We're getting closer to our on-air launch!

It's time for a quick update on our progress in getting CHIR FM on the radio dial.

We've been working hard to get our new PlayoutOne software programmed correctly and are now testing some new shows on our live stream at chir.fm.

After some technical issues last week, which we hope we have now solved, we will be trying again this coming week and then booking a final training session with the guys at Aiir, our software provider.
Once this is successfully completed, we should be in a position to start training our programmers in how to present their shows.

We then have to install and test our emergency broadcasting system.

When we have a date to begin broadcasting on 107.9 FM, we'll let you know. We plan to roll out our new programmes in a series of groups, as soon as show hosts are comfortable with their training.

Meanwhile . . . we have ordered the transmitter for our repeater on Mount Bruce and are awaiting delivery.
We hope to have that installed and ready for testing on 102.1 FM in the next few weeks.

It has been a long haul getting to this point so thanks so much for your patience and continuing support.
And please consider renewing your memberships, so we can continue our work.

We still need funds to provide back-up batteries and generators, plus additional studio equipment.
It costs just $20 for a basic sustaining membership, while Club 107.9 and Club 102.1 VIP supporters can pay $107.90 or $102.10.

Simply send an e-transfer to money@chir.fm and include your name and email address for our database.

Other ways to help:

~ Don't forget to put your Country Grocer receipts in our box (#134, on the bottom row).

~ Donate vinyl records or CDs (everything except classical, please!) at our studio in the portable at SIMS, left up the hill behind Mahon Hall.

~ Come check out The Record Shop at SIMS between 11am and 3pm every Saturday, for vinyl, CDs, cassette tapes, DVDs and 45s. We also sell radio merch and used audio equipment. Every dollar raised goes to support CHIR-FM.
