About Us

The Gulf Islands Community Radio Society is a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing nonprofit, community radio to the Southern Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Canada, in the unceded territory of the Hul'q'umi'num speaking Indigenous peoples.

We've long offered our online stream, but now, in the summer of 2025, after a decade of challenges, the society has all the pieces in place, including a studio and the first of two transmitters on Salt Spring Island, to begin broadcasting at CHIR 107.9 FM. Stay tuned for the big announcement.
